Policy on Withdrawals and Retractions
An article previously accepted for publication by Topology Proceedings may be either withdrawn (in the case of articles that have not yet been published in a finalized volume of the journal) or retracted (in the case of articles that have appeared in a final published volume), either by the unanimous consent of the authors, or a 2/3 vote of the Editorial Board. The Editorial Board will make such a decision only after determining withdrawal/retraction is warranted given any of the following considerations, adapted from guidance published by the Committee on Publication Ethics.
- Determination of major errors that nullify the main result(s) of the manuscript.
- Evidence of plagiarism, including the publication of identical results elsewhere or the improper attribution of other publications.
- Inclusion of intellectual property that infringes on copyright.
- Evidence of unethical research practices, compromised peer review, or undisclosed conflicts of interest.
- These concerns remain at issue after consultation with the authors to clear up any potential misunderstanding.
Withdrawn articles shall be removed in all formats from the journal's website except for a notice of withdrawal listing the original authors and title, and will not appear in any final published volume. Retracted articles will be retitled to include the word "RETRACTED", annotated as retracted on each page in all digital formats and indexing sources, and a new article announcing this retraction will be published in the journal.
This policy was adopted by the Editorial Board on 2025 July 28.
